If a necessary procedure is beyond the skill set of a general dentist, then you will be referred to talk to an oral surgeon. Common surgeries include tooth extraction, dental implants, gum grafts, trauma repair, and more.
JAW SURGERY

Jaw surgery (Orthognathic surgery) is often recommended for misaligned jaws or after facial trauma. This treatment is designed to realign the teeth and jaws, improving the bite and function for the patient. Typically, jaw surgery is only recommended if other minimally-invasive treatments are not sufficient for the patient. For example, if orthodontics can’t resolve jaw problems, then a combination of orthodontics and jaw surgery might be required.
This treatment can help to improve chewing and biting function, minimize excessive wear on the teeth, correct speech issues, and repair facial growth disorders or injuries. In our experience, these corrections can also have a cosmetically appealing impact on facial profile and appearance.
If it involves braces, we’ll work with your orthodontic provider. Depending on the nature of the condition, these types of procedures can be done in the office or the hospital.
TMJ/TMD

The lower jaw is one of the most active bones in our body. With a complex joint on either side, there can be many conditions that develop that can cause problems for a patient. The temporomandibular joint can lead to TMJ disorders when certain problems arise. There are many muscles, tendons, and vessels that are associated with the TMJ.
TMJ means the joint itself. TMD, or Temporomandibular Joint Disorders, is a diagnosis given to you by a dental or medical professional trained in the facial complex. This condition can damage the teeth and gums due to grinding and clenching, as well as cause pain in the joint itself.
If a night guard isn’t effective for eliminating TMJ symptoms, then a surgical consultation might be the right answer. Our team offers a personalized TMD treatment plan for every patient with custom recommendations based on the severity of your symptoms.
BOTOX AND FILLERS

Dr. Jason’s training includes the diagnosis and treatment of cosmetic and medical conditions that utilize Botox and “fillers.” Commonly, Botox is used for the face to lessen wrinkles. It can also be used to treat TMJ and other medical conditions by relaxing muscles.
Medical-grade “fillers” are used when Botox alone does not achieve the desired effect or when more volume and fullness is sought. These procedures are routinely done in the outpatient setting with or without sedation.
Whether Botox is needed for TMJ treatment, or you are looking to regain a youthful appearance, our experienced team will help you choose the right injections to fit your needs. We can combine full-service treatments by pairing Botox and fillers with a variety of cosmetic dental services. It’s easy to create a smile that you love!
