Sedation Dentistry & IV Anesthesia

Comfortable, Safe Oral Surgery with Personalized Anesthesia Care

For many patients, the thought of having oral surgery can cause anxiety or uncertainty. At Arbor View Oral & Facial Surgery, Dr. Jason and our experienced surgical team are committed to making your procedure as comfortable, safe, and stress-free as possible. Whether you are having a wisdom tooth removed, a dental implant placed, or a more complex surgical procedure, we offer a variety of anesthesia and sedation options tailored to your individual needs.

As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Jason has extensive hospital-based training in anesthesia, allowing him to safely administer sedation while continuously monitoring your comfort and well-being throughout your procedure.

Personalized Sedation for Every Patient

No two patients are alike. During your consultation, Dr. Jason will review your medical history, discuss your treatment plan, and recommend the anesthesia option that best matches your procedure, level of anxiety, and overall health. Our goal is simple: to provide a relaxed, comfortable surgical experience while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety.

Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia is used for nearly every oral surgery procedure. By completely numbing the surgical area, treatment can be performed comfortably while you remain awake and aware.

Many patients undergoing straightforward extractions, dental implant placement, biopsies, or bone grafting find that local anesthesia alone provides an excellent experience.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective form of minimal sedation that helps patients feel calm and relaxed during treatment. Administered through a small nose mask, nitrous oxide begins working within minutes and wears off quickly once the procedure is complete.

Nitrous oxide is an excellent option for patients who:

  • Experience mild dental anxiety
  • Prefer to remain awake during treatment
  • Need a shorter surgical procedure
  • Want to drive themselves home afterward (in most cases)

Many patients describe feeling relaxed and comfortable while remaining able to communicate throughout the procedure.

Oral Conscious Sedation

For patients with moderate dental anxiety, oral conscious sedation offers an additional level of relaxation. A prescribed medication is taken before your appointment, allowing you to feel calm, drowsy, and at ease by the time treatment begins.

Although you remain conscious and able to respond to instructions, many patients remember very little about their procedure afterward.

Because the effects of oral sedation last beyond your appointment, a responsible adult will be required to drive you home.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is one of the most popular anesthesia options for oral surgery. Medication is administered through a small intravenous line, allowing Dr. Jason to precisely adjust the level of sedation throughout your procedure. Patients receiving IV sedation typically feel deeply relaxed and often have little or no memory of the surgery. While you continue to breathe on your own and respond appropriately when necessary, the procedure often seems to pass in what feels like just a few moments.

Safety Is Our Highest Priority

Patient safety is at the heart of everything we do. Throughout your procedure, Dr. Jason and our surgical team continuously monitor your vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and breathing. Our office is equipped with advanced anesthesia monitoring equipment and emergency preparedness protocols that meet the rigorous standards expected of an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. Before your procedure, you’ll receive detailed instructions to help ensure your anesthesia experience is as safe and comfortable as possible.
